China targeted for Subway expansion

Already one of the largest franchises in the world, Subway is looking to continue its global expansion by increasing its store numbers in China to 600 by 2015.

The US-based brand, which serves made to order sandwiches, currently has 220 stores operating in China. Subway is also planning to increase its units in Beijing from its current number of 73 to 180 by 2015.

Subway first entered the China market in 1995 and initially its stores targeted foreigners. The company states that now its brand is popular with Chinese office workers and it sees its biggest sales during lunchtime.
